Moderate magnetically disturbed events of August 2010 on high latitude station[]


The behavior of the high latitude ionosphere during the geomagnetically active events of extreme minimum phase of solar cycle 23 and starting phase of 24th solar cycle, in August 2010 moderate geomagnetic storms have been identified and represented in fairly well detail in the present investigation. The ionospheric observations have been obtained from dual frequency GPS, installed and operated at Indian scientific base station Maitri (71.450S and 11.450E) Antarctica, during December. 2009 to December 2010. Situated on auroral region mainly parameters from the GPS observations, Total Electron Content (TEC), Total Electron Content Rate (TECR) Scintillation (S4) have been considered for the present study. On storm days, the percentage deviations of TEC from geomagnetically quiet days at high latitudes shows the variations of ionosphere in terms of positive and negative ionospheric storms. The results are showing the dependence of occurrence characteristics of TEC and scintillation on the Moderate magnetically disturbed events of August 2010 on high latitude station. The percentage deviation of VTEC on the Storm day 275% deviation as compare to quiet condition. Intensity of rate of TEC fluctuation strongly increases during storm activity. On the storm of August 3-6 TECR varies -2.3 to 3.4 nT, which associated with Scintillation (S4). We have observed week and moderate levels of Amplitude Scintillation were present in 3 to 6 August 2010.


Antidiarrhoeal activity of methanolic extract of Justica procumbens by magnesium sulphate induced method in rats[]


Methanolic extract was prepared by using Leaves of Justica procumbens were tested for anti-diarrhoeal activity in magnesium sulphate induced model in rats. The toxicity values were established and 1/10th dose of the Methanolic extracts i.e. 300mg/kg and 500mg/kg were used for the entire study of anti diarrhoeal activities in rats. Antidiarrhoeal potential of extracts was evidenced by a significant reduction in faecal output in castor oil induced diarrhea and also a significant decrease in propulsive movement of gastrointestinal contents.


E-Loyalty: The influence of product quality and delivery services on e-trust and e-satisfaction in China[]


This study proposes and tests an integrative model to examine the relations among product quality and delivery services, e-trust, e-satisfaction and e-loyalty in China. Analysis of survey data from 415 customers of e-tailing, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) has been performed to examine the reliability and validity of the measurement model. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique was used to test the hypotheses of the causal model. Our study reveals that product quality and delivery services (i.e. product variety, quality, availability, reliable delivery, package safety and timely delivery) directly influence e-satisfaction and e-trust. Thus trust has both direct and indirect (through e-satisfaction) impact on e-loyalty. Consequently, both e-trust and e-satisfaction are significant determinants of e-tailing customer’s loyalty. Managerial implications, research limitations and future research directions are provided in the following presentations of the findings.

Load Balancing In Wireless Mesh Networks Using Modified RED Algorithm[]


Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) are potentially the most powerful in providing internet connection in a cost-effective manner. WMNs have unique characteristics like static nodes, and sharing of the wireless medium. They consist of gateways which provide connectivity to the backbone network (preferably the internet). Thus, the traffic volume is expected to be very high and due to limited capacity of these gateways they are considered as a potential bottleneck. One of the techniques to improve their capacity is balancing the load arriving at the gateways known as load-balancing. There are many methodologies for Load-Balancing but they do not provide optimal solution as many of them do not consider the real world situations and many lead to non optimal paths and reduced gateway throughput. The proposed scheme for Load-Balancing uses the concept of multiple gateways and combines it with the concept of multiple queues at each gateway. Prioritization of the real time data packets arriving at each gateway queue is done and thus QoS is achieved along with load balancing. A new schema is proposed based on understanding of current research work which simulated in artificial environment using Network Simulator2 (NS2). The proposed solution also meets the requirement of QoS and effectively balances load on gateways and is suited for real world scenarios. The simulation result of the proposed schema has been compared with the standard existing solutions and it has been shown that our proposed schema outperformed the existing RED algorithms. The efficiency of RED is found to be 73.3% and our proposed schema has 80.3% efficiency which turns out to be 7% higher for the used scenerios


Modified Super Convergent Line Series Method for Selection of Optimal Crop Combination for Intercropping[]


Farmers are generally confronted with problems of determining optimal crop combinations when interactive effects are present between crops grown in intercropping scheme. This, therefore informs the varying margin of profitability in farming exercise. In order to aid farmers obtain optimum yield, this paper proposes a completely new method to optimally select crop combinations for their intercropping scheme. Numerical illustration given shows that the method is adequate for this purpose.


Using weibull distribution in the forecasting by applying on real data of the number of traffic accidents in sulaimani during the period (2010-2013)[]


In this study we tried the application of one continuous probability distributions ,especially Weibull probability distribution , which is used in the study of the reliability and quality control in the forecasting .Real data of the number of traffic accidents for the city of Sulaimani city during (2010-2013) has been applied: 1) Convert(transference) Weibull distribution to linear regression to estimate the parameters. 2) How to use the generalized Weibull distribution in finding probability of the occurrence of traffic accidents.


Prevalence of Hepatitis C Virus in Patients of Chronic Liver Disease in Farrukhabad, (India)[]


Hepatitis C is an infectious disease affecting the liver, caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). The infection is often asymptomatic, but once established, chronic infection can progress to scarring of the liver fibrosis, and advanced scarring cirrhosis which is generally apparent after many years. In some cases, those with cirrhosis will go on to develop liver failure or other complications of cirrhosis, including liver cancer.[1] The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact and a major cause of chronic liver disease, with ~170 million people infected worldwide [2]. Approximately 18 million people in India are estimated to be infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV) [3] .HCV infection is chronic in 75% to 85% of infected individuals [4] The present study was carried out to detect the prevalence of hepatitis C in patients of various liver diseases including patients suffering from acute, fulminant, chronic viral hepatitis, cirrhosis of liver, and Hepatocellular Carcinoma etc. This study will include a total number of 300 patients, in the age range between 10 - 70 years of either sex. 30 Control for this study will be selected among the healthy staff.


Commercial Potential of Sultones[]


Sultones are cyclic esters of sulphonic acids. They are reactive intermediates having commercial application in detergents, polymers, antistatics and other industrial applications. However, the establishment of carcinogenic activity in these sultones has led to a decline in their usage and most studies in this area have also declined.


Portrayal of Children in Magazine Adverts in Nigeria: A Content Analysis[]


This study employed the content analysis technique to examine the portrayal of children in print media advertisements in some Nigerian magazines. Children images from four monthly published magazines (True Love, New African, Complete Fashion and Ebony) were collected over a period of one year and content analyzed. A series of variables common to similar investigations were used to provide a coding scheme. Out of three hundred and forty-five (345) advertisements in the twelve selected editions of the magazines, fifty (50) advertisements portraying children were purposively chosen and content analyzed for this study. There were two levels of analysis, the individual level which concerns the character of the advertisement and the level that deals with the advertisement as a whole. The study data revealed an underrepresentation of children and accuracy in the portrayal of children in magazine advertisements in Nigeria. It was also discovered that a stereotypical view of female children is present in magazine advert images and this was not only expressed in gender stereotypical traits but also in letterform characteristics. This study therefore recommends an improvement in the portrayal of children in magazine adverts in Nigeria.


Design of Photovoltaic System For Powering Commercial Battery Charging Phone Booth[]


This paper carried out feasibility studies of using Ampere-hour method of system sizing to design small Solar PV as an alternative source of electricity for powering commercial battery charging phone booth at Dakwa village in Niger State Nigeria, with total power rating of 101W, and total ampere-hour load of 87.16Ah. 5 module of 80W, 2 batteries of 150Ah, 1 charge controller of 30A, and an inverter of 250W was used in designing 400W solar PV. Some basic assumptions were made such as number of sunshine hours (5.33hrs for Niger State), days of autonomy (2 days) the module power conversion efficiency factors (0.9), module de-rate factor (0.9), wire and Battery efficiency factor (0.9, 0.98 resp.), Battery maximum depth of discharge (0.75), temperature corrected factor (0.9), inflation rate, etc.


Electricity From / For Road Reflectors[]


Think of the days when road was laid in a basic model. It is of a great gift to the people one who wishes to travel. It finds its improvement as the days passes in all aspects like 4 way track, speed track…etc. In this way of improvement we also found improved features for safety for the drivers by using reflector board, indication lights and signal. Among these the road reflectors placed in the roads are very helpful for the drivers especially at night because night driving is nearly a blind driving due to the absence of bright source like lamp posts at this time these reflectors play a role in making the drivers to catch and follow the track. By these reflectors many accidents are avoided and a state of improvement in these road reflectors they are furnished now with led blinking lights which run by solar power. In accordance to this as another step of improvement this paper presents a new idea which will make the reflectors self sufficient in its energy needs without costlier equipments.


Adsorption of Silver (Ag+) from aqueous solution by the Sodium Polyacrylate in bead form[]


The adsorption of the silver (Ag+) is performed in aqueous medium, of a superabsorbent polymer, sodium polyacrylate (PANa) in the form of bead. The kinetic study shows that the pseudo-second-order and Bangham models are best suited. The equilibrium isotherms, for the sorption of silver, was analyzed using four widely used isotherm models (Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin-Radushkevich models). Error analysis, using the linear correlation coefficient (R2), showed that the Langmuir isotherm best fits the silver adsorption data on PANa bead form. The monolayer coverge capacity of the PANa in bead form, obtained from Langmuir isotherm studies, was 147.06 mg/g. The thermodynamics showed that the adsorption of silver on PANa was most favorable and spontaneous; the value of RL is lower than 1 and the free energy value is -2.64 Kj/mol.


SELECT INSERTION SORT - GOUTAM MONDAL[]


In the paper, it is tried to pen-up a new way of sorting named select Insertion sort. The name consists of two words ‘select’ and ‘Insertion’. The word ‘select’ is derived from selection sort and ‘insertion’ is derived from insertion sort. Truly it is said that the procedure of selection insertion sort is based on the selection sort as well as insertion sort. In the procedure, at first it is followed the way of selection sort, then the insertion sort in each step. Both procedures are followed partially.


An examination on structural bonding in e-tailing trust and satisfaction (An empirical study on Chinese universities students)[]


The purpose of our study is to examine the relationship among structural bond, e-satisfaction, e-trust and customer’s commitment, based on data collected from 383 universities students in mainland China. We used a random sampling paper based survey approach. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) has been performed to examine the reliability and validity of the measurement model. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique was used to examine the hypotheses of the causal model. Our study reveals results that structural bond has indirect impact on customer’s commitment via e-satisfaction and e-trust in e-tailing. However, managerial implications, study limitations and future research directions are provided in the subsequent sections.


The crustal and the upper mantle structure of southwestern Nigeria from inversion of teleseismic surface waves[]


No detailed information has been provided on the shear-wave velocity structure of the crust and the upper mantle of Nigeria till-date. In this study, the depth distribution of seismic wave velocities over southwestern Nigeria was determined using teleseismic surface waves of different azimuths recorded by our 3-component broadband station between November 2009 and 2011. The group velocities of Rayleigh and Love waves with surface wave magnitude ≥ 6.0 in the period range of 16 - 100 s were inverted for plane-layered earth shear-velocity structure. The shear-wave velocity of the crust increases gradually from about 3.12 to 4.29 km/s. The Moho was found at the depth of 40 km. The upper mantle shear-velocity increases from about 4.37 to 4.5 km/s between the depths of 40 and 73 km and a low velocity layer between the depths of 73 km and 238 km with shear-wave velocity of 4.01 - 4.47 km/s. An average values for the crust and the upper mantle velocities have been assumed over southwestern Nigeria from seismic data of a single seismic station within this region, however, further studies using data from many stations when available in this area will help to improve on the result of this study.


Innovative Application of Scientific Facts for Production of Designer Quality Rice[]


Rice is staple food of almost 50% of global population, south East Asia in particular and other part of world,in general. In addition to the genetic improvement of the rice varieties, production and processing technologies have important bearing on quality of rice. The present study broadened quality characters of designer quality to 17 aspects comprising genetic, production and processing of rice and it’s by- products. Nutritionally, rice contains high carbohydrate content, but energy release catalysing protein thiamine and cystein lower than other cereals. Rice contains all 10 out of 20 sulpho-amino acids, which gives clue for fortification by management of nitrogen and sulphur cycles. Vitamin B1 deficiency causes beriberi. Vitamin A absence, in general implicates need of fortification by adding extra sources of beta carotenoids and vitamin A. The circumstantial wet land compulsions restrict crop diversification, produce methane and nitrous oxides release in atmosphere. The crop absorbs arsenic and other geochemical impurities such as fluoride and selenium and IPM caused chlorinated organic, which cause serious health hazards of cancer, dental scaries and skeletal defects. A Sun technology for production of designer quality rice to get rid of poor quality and acquire enhanced good qualities is presented. It seems possible to escape the geochemical bad contents by bio deactivation, enhancing uptake by phosphorus and sulphate, right from field to crop and from food in small intestine to the blood cells. Geographical indicator registry (GIr) and patenting of the designer high quality rice will promote global business. Adoption of racy nature Sun technology will bring generation II (2G) agriculture, enhance GDPs revamped national economies.
