Evaluation of Selected Potential Taro Cultivars under La Trinidad Condition[]

The study was conducted to evaluate the growth and yield of taro germplasm; assess the pest and disease incidence; to determine the dry matter content and sensory characteristics of the different taro corms evaluated from November 5, 2013 to December 3, 2014 at NPRCRTC experimental area, La Trinidad, Benguet. The trial was laid out following the Randomized Complete block design (RCBD) replicated three times.

Evaluation on the Productivity of Cassava Intercropped with Bush Beans under La Trinidad Condition[]

The study was conducted to determine the growth and yield of cassava as affected by intercropping bush beans and determine if bush beans could be an intercrop with cassava. Intercropping cassava with bush beans did not significantly affect the number of stem at maturity, weight and number of marketable, number and weight of non-marketable, weight of hills harvested, and computed yield tons per hectare of cassava storage roots.


The purpose of this qualitative study was to give light and expose the reality behind the experiences of students who are victims or witnesses of domestic violence in the rural setting. Fifteen elementary students from Bansalan, Davao del Sur were carefully chosen through purposeful sampling. The results of the interviews were transcribed, translated and coded to produce and present major themes and core ideas. Through in-depth interviews and focus group discussion it was found out that dysfunctional family relationships, viciousness and cruelty, emotional and psychological trauma, disinterest and poor performance in school and detachment and denial were the issues which escalated as regards to the students’ experiences on domestic violence. As to their insights for students who also experience the same circumstances: persevere, stay hopeful and positive, learn to respect, abandon pride and conceit and call on God. This study has significance in education as well as to the community as to how to address domestic violence and prevent its damaging effects to the lives of the students

Development of Decision Support Tool For The Exploitation of Wind Energy Systems Adapted to the Tunisian Sites[]

The construction of a wind park passes mainly by two phases. The first involves the wind analysis of the selected site. The wind data can be directly measured or extrapolated. Two approaches of spatial extrapolation are developed, and therefore, we give the suitable choice of the adapted aero-generator using a developed decision-making tool. The optimization consists in maximizing the performance parameters.

Study, Mathematical Modeling And Simulation Of New Generation STATCOM[]

Modeling and simulation of Fixed Capacitor new generation Static synchronous compensator STATCOM for power system stability. New generation STATCOM based on modular multilevel converter (MMC) for power system stability enhancement and improvement of power transfer capability have been presented in this paper. The Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) represents an emerging topology with a scalable technology making high voltage and power capability possible. First, we obtain mathematical modeling and find output voltage and current of MMC. Secondly, we obtain power flow results and then real power, reactive power, output current and output voltage profiles have been studied for an uncompensated system and then compared with the results obtained after compensating the system using new generation STATCOM. All simulations have been carried out in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment.


The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore the truth behind the experiences of students at risk of dropping out from public schools. Twenty secondary students from Matanao, Davao del Sur were selected through purposeful sampling. The results of the interview were transcribed, translated and coded to produce root and branch codes. Through in-depth interview and focus group discussion it was found out that hostility in the family, adversities at home, peer influence, learning difficulty, low self-esteem and poor disposition, and negative social interaction were barriers of students to enthusiastically focus on their studies resulting to higher risk of dropping out. As to their insights they can share to other students who are also at risk of dropping out and to the academe in general: have faith, reform and transform, hold on and be positive. This study has significance in education as to how to address the problem and find ways to prevent it.

Endoscopic Ultrasonography: A Novel Procedure for the diagnosis of GI tract diseases[]

Twenty years after the introduction of endoscopic ultrasonography, many papers on this topic are being published every year in the medical literature. Along with established clinical indications, such as gastrointestinal and pancreatic cancer staging and differential diagnosis of submucosal tumors, new applications have been suggested, such as meditational and liver tumor sampling with fine-needle aspiration. Improved accuracy and cost-effectiveness have been demonstrated in comparison with other imaging techniques. Reports of large series of fine-needle aspiration procedures have described a high level of accuracy for EUS in the diagnosis of lymph nodes and perivisceral masses.


The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to shed light and find out the realities faced by single mothers with school aged children. Fourteen single parents with school aged children from Bansalan, Davao del Sur were carefully chosen to participate in this study through purposeful sampling. The results of the interviews were transcribed, translated as well as coded to produce major themes and core ideas. In-depth interviews and focus group discussion were conducted to find out the experiences of single parents these are the following: adversities, fears and insecurities, steadfastness, disenchantment and self-sacrifice. Insights from single parents were also presented as what they can share to other single parents in rearing school aged children, these are: endure and have courage, stay positive, have faith, forgive yourself, love unconditionally, dream on, and learn from experience. This study is significant in education to understand the students with single parents and to the community to know the struggles of every single parent.

Improving the Stability of Hydro Power Generator Using Neuro-Fuzzy Techniques[]

In this work, an intelligent device that will continuously supervise and adjust any disturbances that might arise in a hydropower turbine system is presented. To this effect, a Neuro-fuzzy control device that will improve the stability of Hydropower generator is proposed. An effective control scheme in which a variable fuzzy based controller is cascaded with a Neural network identifier called Neuro-Fuzzy technique is demonstrated. This is achieved by using simulation package which is fuzzy logic Toolbox and SIMULINK in MATLAB Software. Water level and flow rate used as input variables are fed into MATLAB Software to design fuzzy controller to generate the fuzzy rule. The fuzzy rule is imbibed inside the fuzzy logic controller (FLC) and simulated to obtain output results for the release control and drain valve which represents the operation of the system overtime. The Augmentation of a classified Neural network to produce Neuro-fuzzy controller will enhance performance and significantly reduce limitations of rise time, settling time, and steady state error observed from conventional PLC-HMI based fuzzy scheme. The overall result is to satisfy the sudden load change and maintain constant turbine speed with less settling time.

Channel Estimation In MIMO -OFDM Wireless Communication Systems[]

The global explosion in the use of wireless (handheld) devices - that rely heavily on wireless infrastructures/systems for their functioning - necessitates the need for robust and efficient wireless communication systems. MIMO-OFDM wireless systems have been shown to improve spectral efficiency and reliability among other advantages. However, their deployment in mobile time-varying environments requires very accurate estimation of the channel characteristics. This paper reviews channel estimation in MIMO-OFDM wireless communication systems and their suitability for mobile time-varying channel environments.

Influence of Hospital Set-Up in Biomedical Waste Management: A Cross-sectional Survey in Four Hospitals of West Delhi[]

Objectives: To regulate the biomedical waste management and control the spread of infections through this, every country has framed rules and policies and to assess the implementation of these regulations in various hospitals, a cross-sectional survey was developed. Through this survey, the influence of hospital set-up was assessed in terms of managing the biomedical waste.

Enhanced production of protease from Bacillus subtilis AP-CMST W3 and its application in leather processing and silver recovery[]

In the present study, Bacillus subtilis AP-CMST W3 was isolated from an estuarine environment for the produc-tion of protease for various biotechnological applications. The process parameters were optimized to enhance the production of protease by the candidate organism. Protease production was found to be optimum in the pres-ence of 0.5% maltose, 0.5% casein, 0.1% magnesium chloride, 3% sodium chloride, at pH 7.0 and 40 °C. The enzyme was purified by the combination of ammonium sulphate precipitation, dialysis and sephadex G-75 gel filtration chromatography. The molecular weight of the purified enzyme was estimated as 21 kDa. The purified enzyme demonstrated appreciable activity at higher temperature (40 °C) and pH 7.0. The enzyme showed potent activity on various surfactants and detergents. It dehaired goat skin and hydrolyzed the gelatine layer of used "X" ray film. These properties reinforce the possibility of inclusion of protease from B. subtilis AP-CMST W3 in leather processing industry.
